BTW, if you would like a copy of any of our DVDs, let us know and we’ll send you one!
We have produced a few interactive DATA DVDs used by the Kentucky Department of Education.
What make this disc unique was the shear volume of information.
This particular disc had 49 screens, 6 audio segments, and 29 videos totally nearly FIVE HOURS!
One could easily ‘get lost’.
We created a simple interface that had the ‘depth‘ which would allow the viewer to ‘logically‘ navigate, and also easily ‘bounce‘ around to different topics on the disc . . . and not get confused.

We accomplished this simply by using ‘color’ and ‘patterns’ to ‘group’ information, and by ‘standardizing’ the navigation ‘buttons’.
Because the disc was distributed freely to all the english/literature teaches across the state, we ‘piggybacked’ onto the disc, the artwork for the disc label and printed ‘insert’, along with instructions as to how to use them.
Holders of the disc were allowed to copy the disc to distribute to other educational professionals as needed.
To some degree, this made the disc ‘self-propagating’.
When the disc first played, the viewer was given the option to watch the introductory video, or ‘skip’ if they so chose.
The ‘home’ screen then gave them seven categories of information, five of which are numbered.
This is the ‘Main’ screen of the ‘Introduction’ category.
Notice that we have changed the color scheme and there are now six sub-headings across the bottom.
The highlighted one, ‘Main’, is what we are seeing.
Sometimes the screen was just filled with text.
And in some cases, there was more than one screen of text.
When they viewed a ‘text filled’ screen, a low volume, short duration soundtrack played.
There were a total of six ‘topics’ in this category: Main, Intro, Importance, Teaching, Indicators, and Resources.
Each of the other six ‘categories’ (available from the ‘home’ screen) had similar design ‘rules’.
As you can see, it made it very easy to ‘navigate’ the many topics, videos, and text pages.
