Before I could shoot these bicycle photos, I needed the ‘perfect’ backdrop.  I decided on using a small park that I pass by many times a week. And I wanted that ‘specific’ open field and those large trees behind them.

Now all I needed to do was to I drive by at different times till I could determine the time of day when the light would be right for the riders and also for the at background.

At that time of the year, I had a 45 minute ‘window’ starting at 9:30 am. It took a few weeks before the combination of weather, sky, and the riders availability all came into ‘alignment’.

A couple of large gold reflectors were used to supplement the sunlight and ‘warm’ the fleshtones.

Below are just a few of the many compositions I shot of both riders and their equipment.

Please Note: These are VERY LOW RESOLUTION sample images. The ‘originals’ are much CLEARER and more VIVID.
