Here’s a sequence of photos we shot from just one home from a recent ‘Home Show’.  We shot eight homes over a period of eleven days. Over 1000 photos were taken.  Our mission was to take ‘Architectural Digest’ quality photos.

This particular house sold for @ 1.3 million and was over 7000 sq feet.  For most of its photos we used 7-8 lights, and sometimes we even had to ‘bracket’ the shots in order to get an accurate exposure. We shot over 100 photos of this home.

In the ‘grotto’ shot below, we first placed three 500 watt umbrellas next to the camera at floor level to brighten up the otherwise very dark floor.

Next, we placed three lights behind the large brick post - 1) a small spot to highlight the top edge of the sofa, 2) an ‘umbrella’ used to brighten the inside of the ‘arch’, and 3) an umbrella to ‘break’ the light across the wall corner that is next to the small access door.

We also had a ‘broad/hard’ light illuminating the room in the back left. Another spotlight was raised and shown at a downward angle illuminating the bar chairs.

Each of the ten other photos on this page had similarly complex lighting.  See if you can tell how we did it.

BTW, if you’d like a copy of our complete “Home Show” DVD, e-mail us and we’ll send you one!

Please Note: These are VERY LOW RESOLUTION sample images. The ‘originals’ are much CLEARER and more VIVID.
