We included this photo as it was more involved that you would think.  On very tall stands we placed spotlights focused on areas in the background. 

An umbrella was placed 10 or so feet behind him which helps fill the altar with ‘soft’ light. (His body is hiding it.)

Two large umbrellas illuminating the Father were on stands on either side of the camera. Their stands were squeezed in between the pews.  Lastly, a spot/kicker was on a tall stand in the distance on the far left added some highlights to him.

Getting a ‘smiling’ shot with such a jovial man was quite easy.
