The client’s objective was a ‘simple’ family photo shoot at their home. They wanted something ‘personal’ and not photos that looked like those from the ‘Walmart’ in-store photo center.

Our dilemma was that the Christmas tree ‘room’ was quite small (about 10x12) and the color of the furniture which filled most the room was not very ‘festive’.

After moving the furniture, setting up many lights, and putting a colorful ‘blanket’ over the tan sofa . . . we got some great shots that they’ll cherish forever.

Even though the tree was just two feet behind the young boy, by using a ‘longer’ lens with a very large aperture, we were able to get that ‘shallow depth of focus’ that we needed to separate him from the tree.

We shot indoors first in order to let the sun get into better position before moving outdoors. Once outside, we used just one larger reflector to give us that ‘soft’ look.

Here are two more photos from that shoot.

Please Note: These are VERY LOW RESOLUTION sample images. The ‘originals’ are much CLEARER and more VIVID.
