There is a beautiful stretch of road outside the city where bicyclists ride on most any sunny day.

Along this gentle curving road there are some very picturesque settings.

After seeing them ride for many years, we decided to go a take a few photos.

The tricky part:

As the clouds moved and blocked the direct sunlight, the scene would transition from beautiful to ‘blah’.

And because the bicyclist were moving at a moderate pace, getting them in focus also proved challenging.  To solve that problem, we put a couple of plastic cups on the road so we could adjust our ‘depth of focus’ and then removed those cups and waited.

After much experimentation with a variety of settings, we got the ‘look’ we wanted.

Here are just two of them.
